This pre-season one of my JV players (who is a Freshman and probably could have started some games for me) broke his ankle during one of our pre-season workouts. He has been working his tail off to get back to the hardwood before the season ended. This past weekend he dressed out for the first time and I was planning on playing him in our last game until we lost our 25 point lead.
Last night I knew would be the night he would get in. With about 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, up by 20, I wanted him to get in the game so our varsity coaches and players could witness his first game as a Green Wave. After putting him in the game and the crowd going wild…I thought to myself…I have to get this kid a basket before varsity starts its’ pre-game routine. I called a timeout and drew up the play below and it could not have worked any better; he got a wide open 3 pointer and knocked it down! His 1st shot as a high school player!
